MAP individual assessment
The Managerial Assessment of Proficiency (2-day initial assessment programme) has a special meaning for the delegates. It will provide them with insights they’ve not had before; it will help them to see themselves as others see them. It will also enable them to ‘take stock’ of their strengths and development needs on an objective, rational, comprehensive basis.
Specifically, it will provide them with data on how they compare with thousands of other managers who have been through MAP, and it will do this on 12 competencies, 2 management styles and 8 personal values relating to how they communicate and interact with others.
How does MAP work? During the day they’ll be watching a case study that presents a week in the life of a senior manager and the 4 managers who report to him. After each episode, they will indicate what the delegates do and don’t like about the behaviour of the managers they have just observed by selecting multiple-response statements. These are then computer scored, and their scores are converted into percentiles that indicate their relative strengths and development needs.
This will be discussed in detail after MAP is over and they get their Proficiency Profile. They’ll see strengths, development needs and many suggestions on dealing with each. If they’re anything like the 160,000-plus managers and professionals who have been through the programme, they’ll find it to be a very worthwhile and rewarding experience.
Following the assessment phase delegates then enter a blended learning programme – which caters for their individual needs and learning styles.
